It’s officially lunch time and you’ve got an hour or two to enjoy this fantastic weather. But where to? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We’re sharing 4 of our favorite quick ‘n dirty lunch break hikes in Boulder—just for you! With easy, moderate, and strenuous options (and seriously stunning views)—we promise these short treks will rejuvenate and recharge you for the second half of your work day.

Mount Sanitas and Sanitas Valley Loop
Rating: Strenuous
Distance: 3.1-mile loop
Dog-Friendly: Yes
Challenge yourself on the hiker’s left ascent as you continuously climb to the summit. Enjoy views of Boulder and the mountains to the north and west of you. On the descent, you have two options: either go back the way you came or continue the loop down the winding Sanitas Valley.

Lion’s Lair Spur Trail
Rating: Moderate
Distance: 4.1-mile out-n-back
Dog-Friendly: No
Enjoy this gradual climb as a brisk stroll or challenge yourself by keeping a light jogging pace. As you continue up the mellow switchbacks, you’ll be surrounded by evergreen trees which provide oh-so-nice shade. The best part? Once you reach the top, pop over to the summit of Mount Sanitas and take in the view of Boulder from above.

Dakota Ridge Trail
Rating: Easy
Distance: 2.6-mile out-n-back
Dog-Friendly: Yes
Hike along the ridge overlooking Sanitas Valley. There’s plenty of shade cover to keep you and your furry friends the perfect temp in the midday sun. You’ll know you’ve reached the end of the trail when you get to the bench. Sit and enjoy the views before you head back the way you came.

Bobolink Trail
Rating: Easy
Distance: 2.5-mile out-n-back
Dog-Friendly: Absolutely
Grab your pups and take a walk along the winding freshwater creek with Flatiron views in the distance. Option to walk, jog, or bike the cement or dirt path depending on your preference. This trail is popular for birding so keep your eyes up in the trees. If you have extra time on your lunch break, you can even let your pup roam freely in the East Boulder Off-Leash Dog Park!
